Load Retailer POS Data Manually

Many of the most common retailers use EDI. Avantalytics can and does create an automatic link to the EDI data, allowing for automatic download. In some instances, you may find yourself needing to load sales data manually. After receiving training, you may have the option to load POS data on Avantalytics yourself. If you have this option, see below for a simple step-by-step guide for loading the data yourself.

Step-by-step guide

In order to manually load POS sales data:

  1. You may have received a POS sales data template and a parser from Avantalytics. If you have not, please request one from support@avantalytics.com Otherwise, if you just need to upload a few items, creating one is very simple. Open an Excel workbook and on the first sheet, create a header row with the following column names, in exactly this order: Chain ID#, Store#, Item#, Units Sold, Remain, Begin Date, End Date, Cost, Retail Price, Sales $.
  2. Fill out the POS data manually using the column headers as your guide, or copy the data over from an existing POS data CSV, making sure to put the right columns in the right order.
  3. Log into avantalytics.com
  4. In the left-hand column, locate "Main Menu," then locate and click on "Raw Data Upload" to expand.
  5. Click "Submit CSV Format POS Data." You should see a screen like this:

    POS Data Upload Portal

Notice that the header titles match the titles and order you were instructed to place in your Excel worksheet. Copy all of your data, then paste it in the box that says "Enter CSV Data Here."

  6. Click "Send to Live Immediately"
  7. Click "Submit POS Sales"
  8. If you are submitting a very large amount of data, it can take several minutes to load, and you will see a counter at the bottom of the screen notifying you how many rows have been uploaded. Once the upload is complete, you will see a dialog box telling you that the operation was successful. If you do not see this dialog box, we cannot guarantee that the data was uploaded, so make sure you wait until you see the dialog box.
  9. You are good to go!

We cannot overstate the importance of making sure your data is in the correct order in your Excel workbook before uploading. If you have ANY questions, please contact support@avantalytics.com before uploading data.
